:: Today's soundtrack: The Kinks "Celluloid Heroes" ::

So there's that new live action Thunderbirds film out. This, coupled with the live Inspector Gadget film, have made me wonder, where are the live action movies of the GOOD, old animated series?

Where the heck is my live action Galaxy Rangers film? I used to live and breathe for that show! Sure I wouldn't want Jerry Orbach to star in it (the voice of Captain Foxx), but with the cult following of Firefly, the time is now! Since my generation is all grown up, who wouldn't want to see Goose (the coolest ever), Captain Foxx, Nico, and Doc come alive?

And also, how about a Thundercats live action film? Let's not pretend that that wouldn't clean up. Of course, I can see how that may prove difficult, but all the aging fanboys will wet themselves for a real-live Cheetara (tell me I'm wrong). The Thundercats themselves and Mumm-ra might look cool, but the problems lie with the Mutants and whatnot. All CGI characters would be bad, but we could cull the cast. I mean, do we really need Ratar-O?

Yes, it's nigh-impossible, but I'll fantasize about it anyway.... a live action Transformers: The Movie. Everyone in my age bracket watched that show AND saw the old movie. Haven't any of you gone on to Hollywood? Get the word in there! Yeah It'd be hard, but come on, man!

And on the subject or scarcely possible films, how about Voltron, eh? CGI giant lion mechas wouldn't be too bad. Done, right it could be quite cool. They'd have to be careful with Zarkon's make up effects, though. I'm thinking maybe Kiera Knightly as Princess Allura, Jason Isaacs as King Zarkon, Mark Dacascoes as Keith and Donald Sutherland as Koran.  But, my gracious, how do you cast Pidge??

And who hasn't cast their dream version of a live action GI Joe movie? Now THAT would be easy as pie! Here's a hint: Sgt Slaughter as Sgt Slaughter. Easy. I could also envision Ray Park as Snake Eyes (since he never speaks and all), Michael Horse as Spirit (maybe because I'm a Twin Peaks fan....), Gary Oldman as Cobra Commander (just love the guy), Vin Diesel as Destro, Jennifer Connally as Lady J (but then I have a Jennifer fetish), Tommy Lee Jones as Hawk, Jennifer Beal as Scarlet, Woody Harrelson as Shipwreck, Morris Chestnut as Roadblock, Jason Scott Lee as Quick Kick (mainly because he clearly has NO shame), Val Kilmer as Duke, and Ricki Yun as Stormshadow. Doesn't that sound exciting?

Take me seriously, dammit! All in favor of any of these ideas, say "Aye!"

William (the man with the plan)
