Our founder, Sir Bloody William Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William. He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This image was rumoured to have been commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness in the White Chapel district of London. Do enjoy your stay and peruse our many, varied offerings, much of which cannot be found elsewhere!

::Today's soundtrack: The Beatles "With a Little Help From My Friends" ::

During the holiday season, many folks are stricken with the true spirit of this time of year and turn to charity. The real meaning of charity is to give without expecting reward, and people can do this in many generous ways such as helping out at soup kitchens or shelters or making item donations to toy distributors or food banks. Anything you can do to help others is a wonderful gift indeed. However if you lack the time to donate your services, there are many worthy organizations doing needed work the world over who could use a monetary donation to keep going. You may not know what's out there or where to start. This is why I want to share with you some of my favourite charities, to whom I donate regularly.

The Human Rights Campaign. This fine organization seeks to ensure the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community gets equal rights. You can check them out HERE.

World Wildlife Fund. This fund fights to conserve important natural places such as rainforests and coral reefs as well aid in the protection of endangered species the world. Find out more HERE.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. These fantastic people help to make certain that first amendment rights are extended to comic books, something many seem to forget. They help others with legal fees and advice when free speech is breeched. Read up on it HERE.

The Red Cross. This group is almost synonymous with providing aid during disasters world wide. They are the premiere organization in collecting and supplying blood donations and they offer many other humanitarian services and programs. Want to help? Look HERE.

The Humane Society. They are the largest and most effective protector of animals in the United States. They offer many marvelous services such as animal rescue, direct animal care in their shelters, animal rehab care, and mobile veterinary clinics. Help save animals HERE.

Planned Parenthood. One of the United States' largest provider of sexual and reproductive health care. They help people obtain services and make informed choices and is the leading advocate of women's health and safety. To know more, go HERE.

Doctors Without Borders. This agency provides free medical help to impoverished and war torn areas of the world. They relocate medical professionals to regions normally without access to medicine or treatments. Help save lives HERE.

The Smile Train. They are an organization which sends surgeons around the globe to help children born with a cleft lip or palate. This birth defect is easily corrected by a simple surgery but many remote and poor countries do not have access to such services which are standard practice in the United States and Europe. These children often cannot eat, drink or speak properly and frequently find themselves ostracized due to their appearance. Change a child's life HERE.

Habitat for Humanity. This group operates under the idea that every person should be able to live is safe, decent housing. Trained volunteers help to build good homes for people in need and the homes are sold to beneficiary families with no-profit, no-interest mortgages. Help build a home HERE.

That's the basic list, anyway. There are other charities that I like, but these are the big ones that I support, but I may have also forgotten one or two. They are all worthy causes doing good work that I personally believe in and therefore give them my money. Would you like to give them YOUR money? That would be great. It doesn't have to be a lot; a few dollars go a long way to any of the services each group provides. Did you know a single Smile Train cleft surgery only costs around 250 USD? Think about that. But, if you WEREN'T planning on donating, that's okay, too. Just don't click on that Humane Society link. Try NOT to donate after looking at photos of sad kitties and puppies. It's damn near impossible. If I forgot any worthy causes, please feel free to mention YOUR faves to everyone in the comments!
