Our founder, Sir Bloody William Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William. He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This image was rumoured to have been commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness in the White Chapel district of London. :: Today's soundtrack: The Pogues featuring Kristy McColl "A Fairytale of New York" ::

One of the annoying things about the Holiday Season is all of the X-mas music constantly playing on repeat over any and all of the air waves. Every store has it over the PA systems and every radio station broadcasts different versions of the same twenty songs nonstop until you feel like you want to beat Rudolph in his hideously mutated nose with a partridge in a pear tree. If you're like me and you get nauseated by the repetitiveness of the same ol' same ol' crap, just do what I do and enjoy the not-so-frequently played holiday greats that ooze of awesomeness.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 "Patrick Swayze Christmas". Duh. One of the most fun and action packed holiday songs you'll find.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 "Merry Christmas... If That's Okay". A song about accepting everyone's religious beliefs and enjoying the spirit of the season.

South Park "Merry Fucking Christmas". A hilarious song about not accepting other's religious beliefs and forcing Christmas upon them. Pure fun.

The Pogues featuring Kristy MacColl "A Fairytale of New York". Not strictly an X-mas song, more about hopes and dreams, but still appropriate and it's the fucking Pogues (and probably one of the few X-mas songs to have the word "faggot" in it).

Dar Williams "The Christians and the Pagans". A great song about X-mas being the time for family no matter what they believe.

John McCutcheon "Christmas in the Trenches". A truly touching song about the real story of December 24, 1914, when the Germans and the English who had been fighting called an unofficial truce for X-mas, where both sides laid down arms, sang carols, exchanged gifts, engaged in a football match and held proper burials for their fallen comrades.

Bare Naked Ladies featuring Sarah McLachlan "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings". Normally I don't go for the traditional stuff, but this rendition is simply wicked. Sarah Mclachlan ought to just marry all of the member of BNL in a group cult wedding so they can produce some seriously talented offspring.

Vince Guaraldi Trio "O Christmas Tree Medley". So I'm not too sure of the official title, this is just some cool piano jazz bound to relax the most restless of holiday souls.

And there you have it! My most favourite soundtrack to the season. Yes, I realize that "Fairytale of New York" probably gets overplayed in the UK, but here in the USA we don't get to hear it so often (probably due to that "faggot" line...) so this is my attempt to broaden its appeal. Now just relax and listen to the goodness to get in the holiday spirit! You'll be glad you're not hearing Burl Ives against your will for once anyway.

William (kickin' back with the good stuff)
