Our founder, Sir Bloody William Salutations, traveler of The Internets! Welcome to William's Bloody Hell, so named after our founder, Sir Bloody William. He is seen in the likeness above in a rare, 19th century woodcut. This image was rumoured to have been commissioned after a bout of unpleasantness in the White Chapel district of London. Do enjoy your stay and peruse our many, varied offerings, much of which cannot be found elsewhere!

Okay, here's the deal:

I am putting William's Bloody Hell, this website, on an indefinite, open hiatus.

I know, in what, seven years of operation I have never once done this. Sure, I've had brief hiatuses before to cover while I went away on vacation, but I knew when I'd be back and everything would carry on like always. Not so this time.

The thing of it is, well, it's a few things which have built up, actually, which wound up with the hiatus being the end result.

As I have mentioned on here in the past, I have a job in the medical field. Not just a job; I am a small business owner in the medical field. These are tough times financially for people in the medical profession, as the federal government has retooled reimbursement rates and so forth. Now, if I ran a large hospital or something, I MAY be able to absorb these horrendous cut backs in other departments, but I am not. Small medically based business are feeling the pinch in a bad way. I am not exactly facing financial ruin (at least not yet), but in anticipation of the worst happening, I have taken on a small part-time job substitute teaching on occasion. This is working out well so far, but it basically means that I am now working one and a half jobs right now, which keeps me very busy.

If you follow me on that Twitter thing, then you may have seen a fairly recent tweet about a medical condition which I have been recently diagnosed. It seems I have arthritis in my feet and there is the possibility of surgery down the road. This may not happen, but just in case it does, I need all the free time I can muster to sort out some things beforehand.

Lately, the website updates have felt more like WORK that I HAVE to do rather than the FUN HOBBY it USED to be. From time to time I find myself not going out or playing games or whatever because I feel as though I HAVE to make certain to have time for the weekly updates. More and more frequently I find myself agonizing for hours over what to write for the Rant rather than doing something fun to relax. Now that I am working two jobs and have had several doctor visits with more to come, I feel that I must spend time doing something that relaxes me on the side instead of this site which has inadvertently become something of a chore.

This is not to say that I will stop drawing or making comic strips, heavens no. I will probably do them a little less frequently, but they will still be produced. I have been toying with the idea of getting a Deviant Art account as an easy means to post my artworks. I haven't made up my mind on that yet, though. If I do, I will post a link on this page to it. (IF!)[EDIT May 26, 2011 So went and did get a Deviant Art account! I waited until I had added a good chunk of arts to it before putting up this link: http://bloodywilliam.deviantart.com/ so, you know, check that out and shit. Thanks!]

Also, this website will continue to be here, in its entirety. I have put a great deal of work into these archives and I cannot fathom simply removing them. I may even link to some page on here from one of my other online haunts from time to time. You can feel free to do the same with confidence that they are not going anywhere. In addition, this will make it easier for me to resume updates if and when I feel it is time to get back into it.

It was not an easy decision to arrive on, putting the site on hiatus. It did get easier the more I thought about it, though. I mean, in all honesty, people simply do not leave comments on the rants like they used to. back in the day I had 3 or 4 loyal followers who would comment almost every week and they would comment on each other's comments, and so on and some of that was actually good stuff. Now, the majority of my Rants get zero comments, which is disheartening. Also, I have had such difficulty coming up with topics about which to rant that I have resorted to MORE THAN ONCE writing about NOT having anything to write about, which is pretty bad.

So, I am dreadfully sorry, but this is how it has to be, at least for now. I do hope to return to this at some point, but I unfortunately have no idea if and when that could possibly be. I will still be online on Twitter: http://twitter.com/BloodyWilliam and the official Serenity Rose forum: http://www.heartshapedskull.com/forum/index.php and like I said, if I do get a Deviant Art account, I'll update this page with that, too. Oh and I'll still be responding to e-mails.

A big, sincere thanks to those of you who did still visit this website regularly, even if you DIDN'T leave comments. I appreciate each and every one of you, and I wish you well.

Cheers,

William the Bloody
