:: Today's soundtrack: Styx "Too Much Time on My Hands" ::
I think it is time for me to share one of my life's philosophies with you all. I have come to the realization over the years that nearly every Part 2 movie can fall into one of 3 categories. Either as, Electric Bugaloo, The Legend of Curley's Gold, or, occasionally The Destruction of Jared Syn.
Let me elaborate. You have to be careful firstly, because you'll want to classify something as an Electric Bugaloo almost right off because of the rhyming factor. For example, First Blood 2:Electric Bugaloo, may roll off the tongue, but it doesn't really fit. First Blood 2 is more of a The Destruction of Jared Syn, don't you agree?
Secondly, almost all films involving a quest or adventure are classified as a Legend of Curley's Gold. Back to the Future 2: The Legend of Curley's Gold. Star Wars Episode 2: The Legend of Curley's Gold. Also, as a result, nearly all those Disney direct to video sequels fall into this category; The Little Mermaid 2: The Legend of Curley's Gold, Aladdin 2: The Legend of Curley's Gold.
Thirdly, I'm finding that most of the horror/comic book/comic book-esque film sequels fall under the Destruction of Jared Syn category. X2: The Destruction of Jared Syn. Matrix 2: The Destruction of Jared Syn. Terminator 2: the Destruction of Jared Syn. Nightmare on Elm Street 2: The Destruction of Jared Syn.
And lastly, nearly everything else falls neatly into the Electric Bugaloo section. Rocky 2: Electric Bugaloo. Rock and Roll High School 2: Electric Bugaloo. American Pie 2: Electric Bugaloo.
It's also coming to a point where Part 3 films can be either The Search for Spock, Die Darkman Die, or Beyond Thunderdome. The categorization of which is similar to the Part 2 plan. Examples. "I can't wait for Harry Potter 3: The Search for Spock!" "Do you remember Halloween 3: Die Darkman Die?" "I can't believe I saw Die Hard 3: Beyond Thunderdome in the theater."
I'm currently working on the Part 4 separations of Life, which presently includes Oblivion, and possibly, The Dream Child.

song for today? Bad Dobby!)
