::Today's soundtrack: Kylie Minogue vs. New Order "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head" ::

One thing I think we can all agree is annoying is getting a song stuck in your head. Even more frustrating is when you have no idea how the song got in there. You could be at the grocery store looking at lettuce and all of a sudden your all "here I am, rock you like a hurricane!" for no reason! You pause for a moment after whispering these lines out loud and listen to the store's over head music. Nope. Too tame for something like this. Then how...? Music works in mystery, obviously. It sinks its catchy hooks into your very subconscious! I have determined the MOST sinister after effect of this is when you get a song YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW stuck in your head. This has been happening to me lately. Specifically, I got "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga in my head. I don't even listen to Lady Gaga! I don't listen to pop music on the radio! The only radio I listen to is my Pandora station and First Wave on Sirius satellite. I don't have anything against Lady Gaga per se, I just don't listen to her is all. I don't own any songs by her. I wasn't even sure what song it was or who sang it until I complained about it being wedged in my brain and someone else said "isn't that the Lady Gaga song 'Paparazzi'?" Do you know how unnerving it is to have a song you don't know the words to stuck in your head? When you have a song doing the rounds, you naturally want to sing it out loud, no matter how quietly. So, it is that I found myself singing "I'm your biggest fan, lalalala-lalala-loo-loo, la-la-loo-loo" repeatedly over the course of several days. That is all of the words to "Paparazzi" that I know. That one line and the gist of melody right after. That's it. I had no idea what it was or how it got in there, but I was compelled to sing it! Over and over. After I found out what it was, by having a small mental breakdown near the friend who knew it, I had to look it up. I NEEDED to know what those elusive words were. Gods bless YouTube and fan made lyrics videos. I swear, those things are perfect for situations like this.

I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me, papa, paparazzi....

Siiiigh.... that feels so much better. It's like that was welling up inside me like a sneeze or something that just had to get out. You know, how when you feel like you have to sneeze but don't right off? Annoying, right? Yeah, it was like that. I still don't know where I heard it to set this off. If it wasn't the radio, the only other culprit I can think of is television. Television, j'accuse!!

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? Where a song you don't know somehow nevertheless manages to get stuck in your brain? Or am I just special like that? Only wondering if I should schedule an MRI or something. I swear my brain hates me.
