::Today's soundtrack: Keren DeBerg "Boy on TV" ::
After the seriousness of last week’s political rant, I thought I’d lighten the mood a little bit. Since Rant 146, more cool-ass and fun music videos have come to attention and I feel the urge to spread their greatness to my friendly readers. This time with handy YouTube links (Note: cannot guarantee that these links will work at a future date. You know how YouTube can be)!
OK Go “Here it Goes Again” Duh. Who doesn’t get a lift in their spirits from watching four guys do a fun, choreographed number on treadmills?

Lordi “Blood Red Sandman” As a fan of Sam Rami’s old Evil Dead movies, I couldn’t help but get a kick out of the obvious homage of this video. It’s creepy and fun tribute!

Gorillaz “Feel Good Inc.” I think maybe I just like that little island floating around propelled by a windmill bit. This video is very relaxing.

Muse “Knights of Cydonia” This video is pure awesomeness in video form. Okay, so it’s set in the post apocalyptic future, and there is this kung-fu fighting cowboy guy, a town in peril, and something to do with a robot and a unicorn, all done in a style paying homage to the spaghetti westerns of yore.

Utah Saints “Something Good ‘08” Man, I never fail to sprout a grin whenever I see this one. That one guy going around to clubs doing “the running man” is hilarious, but even moreso are the synchronized dance numbers based around it. Good times.

Weezer “Pork and Beans” Weezer put together the ultimate tribute to the viral video and used it to promote their song, in a move which is pure genius. If you watched even one of the video links forwarded to you ever, you’ll recognize someone featured in it. You’ve got the “Numa Numa guy”, the “Chocolate Rain” guy, Charlie the Unicorn, the Daft Bodies, the “Brittney Fan”, the “Evolution of Dance” dude, and so many others. The song is kind of about doing what you want to do no matter what, and it totally fits.

So, now you’ve seen some of the delightful video romps available out there, it leads to the question: are all of them put together even close to being as wickedly cool as THIS? Hmmmm…
