I wonder what the problem people have with suicide is. I mean, strictly speaking, a person's life is their own, so isn't their death likewise? And not to sound cold or anything, but the world is really over populated to begin with, so if somebody wants to end their own life, what's the big deal?

The whole business with doctor assisted suicides, for instance. What's so wrong about that? If I, or someone I loved, were ill with ZERO chance of getting better, quite possibly they would get steadily worse, reduced to being confined in a hospital bed, and every day would grow in horrid agony, I don't think I would want someone to say there was no right to assisted self-termination. I would insist on thorough documentation, however just to prove beyond all doubt that this is the deceased's wish in order to put the family and legal authorities at ease. I mean, if I were in so much constant pain that it took perpetual medicating to get me through a day, but so much so that I could scarcely move, what's the point of living?

There is also the matter of getting decrepitly old. If some one is feeble and old and they choose to end their own life, go right ahead I say. Heck, I wouldn't want to grow into a geezer who on every other day can't remember the names of his family members or even what year it is. When one gets very old, there is the awful indignity of slipping at home, not being able to get up on your own, and then soiling yourself before help can arrive. Who wants that, I ask you? Please, allow people like this to consider terminating their life before it gets to that point.

I'm not limiting this to the sick and elderly, oh no. As I said, the world is terribly overpopulated. If somebody has no job, no prospects, no family, and no loved ones at all, go ahead and blow your brains out, fella. Lose your job and can't support your family? Got caught peddling kiddie porn? Someone discovered your secret double life and it's all going to Hell in a hand basket? Why not, I say. In other countries, like Japan for instance, it is considered a gentleman's death and one last grasp at honor to take your own life when faced with horrible life situations. I think many other nations should follow suit and allow families to collect on insurance in cases of suicide. Trust me, more often than not, we'd be doing the whole world a favor.

By condoning suicide, I'm not saying people should go around willy nilly and start killing themselves. Heck no. I'm just saying, if someone chooses to do this, respect their decision. Deciding on suicide is usually a last resort and not and easy choice to make.
